Front-Runner Ashley Hess Impresses Judges With 'Don't Know Why' Audition

27-year-old Ashley Hess sets herself apart from the competition with her noteworthy audition of ‘Don’t Know Why’ from Norah Jones. Despite her obvious talent for music, Ashley got a late start on her dream. After high school, she thought the wanted to be a dental hygienist but soon found out that that career path was not fulfilling. She always had a heart for music, but her more practical side kept telling her to stick with a safe and stable profession. “I feel like I’m split down the middle, like a dreamer and a realist. It’s just been this battle of ‘Oh, do I do something that’s riskier or do I do something that makes a little more sense?’ But that side of me that wants to take the risk has never really gone away.” Today, Ashley decided to step out of her comfort zone and audition for American Idol. She started off quite timid and doubtful of her own skill. But as soon as she sat down at the piano and started to play ‘Don’t Know Why’ from Norah Jones, her remarkable talent emerged. “I waited 'til I saw the sun I don't know why I didn't come I left you by the house of fun I don't know why I didn't come I don't know why I didn't come” Ashley had barely gotten to the chorus when judge Luke Bryan spotted the performance. He instructed his fellow judges to move closer to the piano so that they could all bask in this incredible musician. After the song finished, Ashley was in complete disbelief. One by one, the judges told this young woman how much talent she has and that she is easily a front-runner in this competition. Katy Perry even remarked that she wanted to scream at Ashley and say, “You could win this competition. Wake up!” Hopefully, this audition is the spark of confidence that she needs to go all the way. But first, Ashley is on her way to Hollywood for the next round of American Idol.

A Cappella Rendition Of 'Bohemian Rhapsody' From Pentatonix

Viral a cappella sensations Pentatonix share a stunning performance of Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody.’ This talented group of five formed in 2011, but they shot to fame after winning the third season of the television competition, ‘The Sing Off.’ Since that time, Pentatonix has earned worldwide attention for their covers of songs such as ‘Hallelujah’ and ‘The Sound Of Silence.’ Today, they are belting out the iconic lyrics to ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and it’s another viral performance. “Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Caught in a landslide No escape from reality Open your eyes Look up to the skies and see” The song was written by Freddie Mercury for Queen’s 1975 album, ‘A Night At The Opera.’ Since that time, many famous artists have lent their vocals to the tune. But, this a cappella Pentatonix rendition is unlike anything else. When you perform a cappella, every sound that you hear comes from a human voice. There are no instruments or background music. It takes so many hours of arrangement and practice in order to perfect a performance like this, but Pentatonix always delivers flawlessly. This talented group has a gift for selecting just the right song to compliment their vocal skills. And the rest of the world seems to agree because this rendition of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ has been viewed over 75 million times online. With talent like this, it seems that there is no end in sight for Pentatonix and we’ll certainly be hearing from this group for many years to come.

Sick Stray Pug Makes Incredible Transformation

Seeing Dex, a stray pug, and his incredible transformation from very sick to spunky and healthy will bring a smile to your face! Dex was found wandering the streets of Austin, TX when somebody called animal control to come and pick him up. “He was a very sick dog,” says Signe Corbin, a member of the Pug Rescue of Austin. “We guessed he was about 10 to 12 months old when he came in, but he had such severe mange that he had almost no hair on his body. His skin was so infected and itchy that he was rubbing his eyes and he was in danger of losing one of the eyes completely.” Thankfully, Dex was able to heal. And just 3 months after his rescue, he was able to find a new home with Beth, Mark, their son Noah, and their 5 other dogs. “There were so many people that were rooting for Dex,” explains Beth. “It broke our heart, knowing that for half of his life he had been in that condition.” “We were moved by his story,” says Mark. “He had demodex mange. One reason he is named Dex is because of the condition he had. But you wouldn’t know it today. He’s just like any other normal dog.” Once they got the news that they could take Dex home and introduce him to their family, Beth and Mark were ecstatic. They say that Dex is so happy to be present and just jump into life with their family. “He brings a lot of joy to this home. I think he’s inspiring. He’s just a grateful dog,” says Beth. And from the looks of the Instagram that was created for Dex, he brings a lot of joy to others with the cute and silly pictures that are posted of him. If you’d like to follow this inspiring pug, you can find him at @dex_the_pug on Instagram!
