Check out this incredible performance of a junior orchestra giving classical music a modern makeover on Britain’s Got Talent.
The Chineke! Junior Orchestra is a dynamic British youth orchestra made up of players aged 11 to 22 years old. It was founded in 2015 along with its sister ensemble, the Chineke! Orchestra.
For their Britain’s Got Talent audition, the Chineke! Junior Orchestra impressed the audience and judges with their incredible mix of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony, Bruno Mars' 'Uptown Funk,' Clean Bandit's 'Rather Be,' John Legend’s ‘All of Me,’ and more popular hits!
These young musicians – playing all sorts of instruments from violins, drums, piano, trombones, flutes, harps, and more – are all so talented! In fact, all of the students in the Chineke! Junior Orchestra have secured scholarships to the Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music, or the Guildhall School of Music.
In 2019, the Chineke! Junior Orchestra was nominated for Best Classical Music Education Initiative Award, which honors an education project that has shown musical excellence and has had a positive impact on a significant number of participants.
These young, talented musicians are going places, and it will be great to see them perform more on BGT and blow us away with their wonderful performances!
2 Chronicles 5:12-14
12 All the Levites who were musicians—Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun and their sons and relatives—stood on the east side of the altar, dressed in fine linen and playing cymbals, harps and lyres. They were accompanied by 120 priests sounding trumpets. 13 The trumpeters and musicians joined in unison to give praise and thanks to the Lord. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, the singers raised their voices in praise to the Lord and sang: “He is good; his love endures forever.” Then the temple of the Lord was filled with the cloud, 14 and the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the temple of God.
