19-year-old Girl Sang Her Way Through Brain Surgery to Save Her Talent

This 19-year-old girl sang her way through brain surgery to preserve her musical talents. Kira Iaconetti loves to sing and act but when an MRI showed a brain tumor, her passion was at risk. Kira was diagnosed with a rare form of epilepsy called “musicogenic epilepsy”. Seizures are triggered by listening to music or singing. Clearly, Kira needed a miracle. “It was like a light switch turned off in my brain,” she said in an interview with Seattle Children’s Hospital. “Suddenly, I was tone deaf, I couldn’t process the words in time with the music and I couldn’t sing.” The only option was to perform an “awake craniotomy” in which Kira would be awake as the surgeon worked to remove the tumor. “...the tumor was right inside the area of my brain that controls my hearing and singing ability,” Kira said. “Messing with it could permanently affect my voice, and because Dr. Hauptman knew how important it is to me to continue singing and acting, he wanted to be very careful when removing the tumor. He didn’t want to interfere with my ability to sing.” In order to have the best chance of preserving her musical abilities, Kira was asked to sing while in surgery. If the doctors noticed a difference in her voice they knew to avoid that specific area. “Her voice is so beautiful and her willingness to do something new helped make the whole process interactive, collaborative and exciting.” shared Dr. Shurtleff. The surgery appears to have been a miraculous success and Kira was up playing guitar and singing while still in the hospital bed. It appears her episodes have been stopped and she is looking forward to using her God-given talents in the future!

Doctors Said He Was Dying But God Sent Adam York A Miracle

If there is one thing we know, it’s that God often has different plans for us than the world may think! Last Christmas, Adam York celebrated with family before being hit with flu symptoms. Days later he was on life support. Doctors said he was going to die, but God sent Adam York a miracle! Adam rarely got sick and never received a flu shot. When his symptoms began, his family never expected to see their loved one slip into a coma for two months. When he first entered the hospital, Adam’s flu had turned to viral pneumonia; his lungs were filling with fluid. None of the doctor’s treatments were working and he was on 100% oxygen. Felicia York, Adam's wife shared "It got really bad. They were telling me ‘there’s nothing else we can do.’ We were watching his oxygen levels drop, drop, drop." When the doctors were determined that there was nothing more they could do and that Adam’s passing was imminent, Felicia turned to the Father for help. "I prayed," Felicia said. "I stayed there two hours by his bed praying." His doctor tried again to draw fluid off of his lungs. After previous attempts there wasn’t much hope, but this time they were miraculously successful. Adam began to recover shortly after that with full brain function. The hospital staff were shocked. "One of my doctors came in and he had told me he didn’t believe in miracles but he came in the room and said ‘I don’t know what that means to you, but you’re a miracle,'" Adam said. "A lot of crazy things that shouldn’t have happened – did." Adam’s story didn’t end there. As a result of the trauma his body went through, he was paralyzed. But his family kept on praying and Adam miraculously recovered over time and is now able to walk with light assistance. Because of their experiences, Adam and Felicia are now pursuing career changes into the nursing field so that they can be a blessing to others in need. “I’d say God first, prayer second, doctors third,” Adam shared about his recovery. “The doctors and the nurses – none of them have an explanation for why I’m alive.”

John Waller 'Awakening (The Coffee Song)' New Release (Official Music Video)

Singer / Songwriter John Waller continues to use his talents to encourage and uplift, “Awakening (The Coffee Song)” is no exception. This father of nine children is no stranger to the need for a little coffee and a LOT of Jesus! Filmed on the streets of New York City, “Awakening (The Coffee Song)” is the perfect blend (see what we did there?) of taking something we may love, like coffee and realizing that Jesus pairs beautifully with it. Because ultimately, anything we do should be the perfect pairing for Jesus, and if it’s not then we might want to take a harder look at our life choices! “Gimme a good cup of coffee Gimme a word that rocks me A whole lotta Jesus and little caffeine You are my awakening The world that waits out the front door Let it wait just a bit more Cuz I need Jesus and a little caffeine You are my awakening” John Waller and family are no stranger to reevaluating and praying through the next big steps in life. Former front man for ‘According to John’ took a leap with his wife, Josee, and moved from the East Coast to Colorado where he became a worship pastor. Then came the solo music career and touring. It wasn’t long before God brought him to a place where another big step in life was imminent and brought about another move and another change...and more steps of faith. "This is by far the most fun I've ever had making a music video," said John Waller. "Most of my songs are somewhat deep and thought-provoking. This is a simple song about Jesus and coffee and how the two go very well together. After my wife and I went went from 5 kids to 9 in one year--we tried to adopt one child and ended up adopting 3 siblings from Ukraine and had our sixth biological child on top of that--we began praying about other ways to support our large family. Josee, my wife, came up with the idea of doing something with coffee. Crazy Faith Coffee was born! We LOVE amazing coffee and we love great stories of crazy faith. We combined the two with a Cracker Jacks-like concept. We decided to put stories inside bags of coffee! It's so much fun!' We think John’s “Coffee Song” is going to unexpectedly touch a lot of people and hopefully like his other songs, become a word of encouragement to keep Jesus first and pray through your decisions (with a cup o’ joe, of course!)

The Skit Guys Offer Powerful Message In 'Attention To Thankfulness'

The Skit Guys return with another meaningful video, this one titled ‘Attention to Thankfulness.’ As a family sits at a dinner table together, not one is paying attention to the rest of the family around them. Instead their focus is set on their mobile phones – texting, playing games, and taking selfies. That’s when Grandpa does something a little strange and he catches the family’s eye. As the rest of the family sat in their own digital worlds, Grandpa picked up the television remote and began swiping, tapping, and posing for selfies with the remote. When the family noticed his odd behavior, they looked on with worried looks. Once all eyes were on him, he shared an important message. “I just want to take this opportunity to tell you how thankful I am for all of you. I’m thankful for this meal… I’m thankful for this family, watching you grow and follow your dreams. It’s an honor to pray for each of you when I go to bed every night.” Grandpa’s example led the rest of the family to follow suit, sharing the things for which they were most thankful. How much we can all learn from this simple two minute skit. Perhaps we need to refocus our attention on those around us, to be present and in the moment. We should not only be thankful for one another and our blessings but let’s start SHARING with each other and encouraging others to put into words how they have been blessed!

Fixer Upper Star Chip Gaines Offers Funny Advice

HGTV’s Fixer Upper star, Chip Gaines offers funny advice from his Charlie Brown-esque advice booth. And his first few suggestions are just about as spot on as Lucy Van Pelt! Chip and Joanna Gaines are back in the spotlight after a hiatus from their Fixer Upper show, we’re happy to see them making the rounds again! Of course, Chip is known for his off-the-wall humor and childlike antics. Who better to spoof Lucy’s advice booth as we enter into the holidays where the Peanuts characters are a staple tradition just as much as turkey and ham! Q: “My boyfriend hates desserts, should we break up?” A: “Drop that fool like a hot potato! I’m positive that this guy is no good… for you!” Of course, it’s all fun and games. (Please don’t drop your boyfriend if they don’t like dessert. This might be God’s way of giving you a second portion of cherry pie!) After a few silly questions, Chip moves from funny man to serious advice-giver. Q: “ What’s your best advice for starting over and finding my passion?" A: “....When is the best time to plant a tree? And the answer is 25 years ago. When’s the second best time to plant a tree and the answer is TODAY.” But Chip was prepared to go so much deeper with the next question. It’s something that is weighing heavy on many of our hearts. Q: “I’m concerned with the current state of the world. What’s one thing I can do to make a difference?” Without skipping a beat, Chip offered sage advice: “Volunteer. You walk by somebody that looks like they need a helping hand, talk to them.... We forget that other people exist. And that other people might need an encouraging word from us today, so if you are looking to BE encouraged, encourage somebody in the process and it usually goes both ways!” What an important reminder to put others first and take the moment to love on someone else!

'His Eye is on the Sparrow' - Somer Smith Audition for The Voice

Somer Smith is a talented Gospel singer from Melbourne, Australia. We love that she chose a classic hymn, ‘His Eye Is on the Sparrow’ for her audition for the competition singing TV Show ‘The Voice Australia.’ The lyrics to this hymn are so beautiful! His Eye is On The Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come, Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heaven and home, When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He: His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me. I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free, For His eye is on the sparrow, And I know He watches me. “Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear, And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears; Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me. I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free, For His eye is on the sparrow, And I know He watches me. Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise, When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies, I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me. I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free, For His eye is on the sparrow, And I know He watches me.

Julia Roberts Opens Up About Her Husband And Tears Up at A Remark

Superstar of screens large and now small, Julia Roberts gives a candid interview about her personal life as well as her new TV series “Homecoming” now on Amazon Prime. The interview was run by NBC’s Harry Smith, who cordially let the actress open up about work-life, the new show and even about the fine balance of being a soccer mom to mostly teenage kids. During the chat with host Harry, Julia’s glowing personality was in full force. Smiles and laughter were exchanged. Julia’s signature smile was on full display and it was obvious she felt very comfortable with Smith. As he describes her role in the new television series “Homecoming”, he points out the importance of the character being a good listener. Julia is quick to point out “Well, it should always be important all the time, to everybody!” Then Harry shared some early clips of the superstar’s first appearance opposite actor Don Johnson on camera via the hit show “Miami Vice.” What a flashback! As the interview progressed to more serious topics, Julia opened up about her husband’s influence in her life. “I give him a lot of credit. Not that I am a different person, but that he has helped me protect my person” When asked about raising her three [almost] teenagers in today’s world, “Mom” Julia shares how she tries to protect them from social media. “… I don’t really understand what they need that for right now.” Roberts admits that she just joined Instagram herself this past Summer! Sarcastically she quips, “I felt it was my responsibility to social media to make my presence felt. We just don’t have the 50 year old house-wife perspective represented enough on Instagram” What was most touching was Julia’s reaction when Harry shared “When you have the opportunity to sit and have a conversation with Julia Roberts, and she laughs, either at you or at herself, it is a thing of just abundant joy!” That’s when the usually very collected actress found herself visibly moved. “Harry… You are determined to make – I’ve been fighting tears honestly this whole time we’re sitting here talking. You’re determined to make me watery!”

Happy Thanksgiving

Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Psalm 105:1
We wish you and your family a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving! May God Bless each and everyone of you!

Dear Sufferer

I created this video in response to God's call to do more than pray for my community and nation. This is my commitment to follow God with my actions as well as my thoughts.

Built on Bad Theology

The Tower of Babel was built on the plain of Shinar. It failed because it was built on bad theology! And it is unfortunate that much of what the church has built over the years is set on that same foundation. Jesus said that He would build His church, but that foundation is the Rock.

Jita and Elizabeth Kathryn Sing 'His Eye IS On The Sparrow'

Mother and daughter, Jita and Elizabeth Kathryn, are lifting up their hearts as they praise Jesus in their living room! It wasn’t long before we were worshipping along with them to this favorite classic hymn. “His Eye is On The Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come, Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heaven and home, When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He: His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me. I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free, For His eye is on the sparrow, And I know He watches me.” Juanita “Jita” and her daughter Elizabeth Kathryn are no strangers to singing good ol’ gospel praise. Social media accounts show them leading worship at local churches and conferences. There is no doubt that these ladies truly have a heart and passion for the Lord! We love hearing their voices raised in praise and harmonizing so beautifully too. There is something truly special about seeing a mother and daughter not only singing together but worshipping the Lord and lifting His name in praise! “Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear, And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears; Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

American Idol's Maddie Poppe And Caleb Lee Hutchinson 'You've Got A Friend'

Performing “You’ve Got A Friend”, Maddie Poppe and Caleb Lee Hutchinson blend their vocal strengths beautifully in this Carole King folk classic. The pair met while competing on American Idol, Maddie winning the competition and Caleb coming in as the runner up. After meeting on the television show, it was clear that the talented Maddie (20) and Caleb (19) were fast friends. Their vocal style lends perfectly to duets and there is a clear charisma between them. Caleb starts out the famous tune with his deep drawl. His voice lends perfectly to this acoustic song. With a little smile and glance towards to Maddie we can’t get enough of these two. “When you're down and troubled / And you need some love and care / And nothing, nothing is going right / Close your eyes and think of me / And soon I will be there / To brighten up even your darkest night” Maddie joins Caleb as he begins the familiar chorus. “You just call out my name And you know wherever I am I'll come running, to see you again ]Winter, spring, summer or fall All you have to do is call And I'll be there You've got a friend” Filling in the interlude, Maddie and Caleb joke with each other before Maddie tackles the next verse. Seeing these two friends performing this supportive ballad is great for a huge smile! We can’t wait to see more from the pair and hopefully an album! As they finish their performance, Caleb ad-libs the lyrics: “All you gotta do is call, and I’ll be there, I sure will, Maddie...You’ve got a friend!” and Maddie responds with her own “and I’ll be there, yes I will, Caleb, you’ve got such an awesome, perfect [girl] friend!”

Divine Intervention Sends Dying Baby to Man's Porch Steps

Carlos Rodriguez wasn't supposed to be at his house that Monday. But thanks to divine intervention, this godly man was home when a neighbor in dire need rang his bell. And what he did next made him a hero. He'd never even been officially trained, but he prayed and performed CPR in front of Jesus portrait, and it saved a dying baby's life! Carlos had stayed home from work that week because he had family visiting from out of town. Because of that, Carlos would be at his house when he normally wouldn't have been.  Down the street, Carlos' neighbor ran out of her home screaming. Then she ran straight to Carlos' home, running past several other houses. This was not a coincidence--it was divine intervention!  What Carlos saw when he opened the door would haunt him for months afterward. His neighbor was standing on his porch in hysterics clutching her lifeless baby. All the baby's mother could utter to Carlos was one word, "water." She had left her 13-month-old son alone in the bathtub for just a moment, only to return and find him floating."He was completely lifeless. His body was a different color. He was blue. He had no pulse."  Carlos rushed the baby into the house, silently praying as he started administering CPR. He'd never received official training but had self-taught himself CPR skills by watching YouTube videos when he had his first child. “I knew enough,” he said. After a few moments, the baby started to breathe. Shortly after, the first responders would arrive. They all agree that Carlos had saved the baby's life. "It was amazing. It was awesome just to look him in the eye and know that he’s alive," said Rodriguez. "It’s probably one of the greatest moments in my life." It wasn’t until after the fact that Carlos realized where he'd ended up taking the drowned baby. He’d performed CPR in front of a portrait of Jesus Christ. “God definitely had a big part in this,” Carlos said. "Later I asked her, 'why did you come to my house', and she said that God guided her here."  Carlos was terrified by what almost happened to that poor baby. "I have three little kids," Carlos said, "and just to have them lifeless and not know if they’re going to come back, it’s so scary." The idea tormented Carlos so much that he struggled with fear of giving his own children baths for a while after the incident. Then he became inspired to use the traumatic events for good. He shared his story, and 20 of his friends and family members went to get CPR certified! Now he's encouraging everyone to become CPR certified. "I think it’s just so important to raise awareness about knowing how to do CPR, because like it happened to me. You just never know when you’re going to be in a position where you have to save a life," Carlos said. “Somebody could literally come to your door with a baby that’s lifeless and ask you for help,” he said.

In Remembrance - Roy Clark Performs On The Jimmy Dean Show

Country star and musical prodigy, Roy Clark is remembered fondly by so many. The beloved host of the television show “Hee Haw” was known for his hilarious skits but respected for his incredible talent. As talented performers look back on their interactions with Roy Clark, it’s clear that he was also a good friend. “Just heard Hee Haw Star / Super Picker #RoyClark just passed away. Saw him last when we filmed #CountrysFamilyReunion He was always so kind. Heaven gained another amazing addition to the Angel Band. Rest In Peace Roy” tweeted Rhonda Vincent. "Roy Clark was one of the greatest ever," Dolly Parton said in an emailed statement to Billboard. "His spirit will never die. I loved him dearly and he will be missed." Roy Linwood Clark was born in Meherrin, Virginia in 1933. His father worked the railroad but was also known to be a talented guitar, banjo and fiddler player. As a child, Roy would accompany his father at local square dances. By age 14, he had won two national banjo championships and an invitation to the Grand Ole Opry! It was Roy’s father who gave him an important piece of advice, ‘Never turn your ear off to music until your heart hears it — because then you might hear something you like.'” Roy officially got his start in the late 1940’s as a member of the Grandpa Jones band playing banjo and touring with the likes of Hank Williams. From there, he continued his run playing on radio and television on the East coast until being hired to play lead guitar in the house band for “The Jimmy Dean Show” (then called “Country Style”). It wasn’t long before this incredibly talented musician and jokester had moved West and scored his own record contract with Capitol. Not surprisingly, his debut album was titled “The Lightning Fingers of Roy Clark!” More than all of his talent, Roy will be remembered for being a stand up guy. Known in the industry as “easy to get along with”, Roy quickly made a name for himself that will go beyond his music. He was truly loved by those who knew him and will be remembered for his dazzling smile and friendly demeanor. "The next chance you get, do somethin' nice for somebody - say 'good day,' hold a door open - and don't wait around for a thank you... you don't need it." — Roy Clark
