A couple of homeowners were stunned to find a 19th Century hidden tunnel under their home. Maybe stunned is an understatement. Gary and Beth Machens made the shocking discovery only by chance. Their sidewalk began buckling and in the process of dealing with that they saw something odd. There was an opening leading to an old tunnel that was still in great condition. “There’s the opening we have to shimmy into,” Gary said, commenting on the tunnel’s small entry point. The tunnel featured a brick archway. One one end had the small opening the couple used to get inside, and on the other end was a just large pile of dirt. “There’s a pile of dirt here,” the husband said simply. The Machens have no idea what the tunnel wsas for, but have learned that the structure can be traced back to 1895. The find was odd for sure, and for some would have been disconcerting. Just imagine, finding a secret building beneath the place you call home. A home beneath a home, or a tunnel, or anything - that’s definitely not everyone’s cup of tea for sure. The Machens were not the only people discovering odd things inside their home. One Massachusetts homeowner hired treasure hunter Keith Wille to help her find treasure she suspected was stashed in the house decades ago by a relative. Keith was successful, finding a box of money totalling $46k in the attic. The box was buried beneath the floorboard, and tucked under additional pieces of wood. Keith found the box using a metal detector. The find came just in time as the homeowner was preparing to move. Now she can take some of that money with her. Not everyone can claim to have the experience of these homeowners. Sometimes we buy or rent homes and there’s nothing fascinating to find. Maybe that’s good. One thing’s for sure, every property has history. Even if we don’t find hidden treasure, maybe one day we will be the one to leave something behind for a later occupant to discover.

This a cappella group sings a medley of our favorite 90s TV songs, and I almost cried when the nostalgia settled in! Voctave is an a cappella group from Florida that was formed in 2015 by their producer/arranger, Jamey Ray. Even though their voices blend so magically, each member brings a special spark to the group. There are 11 members that all have different musical backgrounds. Their range of backgrounds also creates a range of music. Their seven albums have songs from Broadway to Disney to our favorite TV show songs. A few of the most popular songs in their mashup video include ‘Winnie the Pooh’ and ‘Muppet Babies.’ In the Muppet song, there are some spot-on Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy impressions, guaranteed to impress! The Pooh song is from ‘The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh’ which aired from the late ’80s into ‘91. The sparkly little tune was written by Steve Nelson and originally sung by Steve Wood. I wonder if they knew their song would one day induce severe childhood nostalgia! Much like the 90s fashion trends, the video has colors EVERYWHERE! The members are in different colored boxes move around the screen depending on who is featured during the tune. The best setup is when one of the members is in a large box in the middle and all the others are in smaller boxes around that one because in most of the video, not every member was on the screen at once. The music arrangement is incredible. Once you realize what show the song is from, they seamlessly transition into the next song. Definitely watch this if you want to reminisce about simpler times and possibly shed a tear or two.

Parents don’t always impress their children, and such is the case with this toddler who isn’t impressed by his yodeling Mom. What makes this situation funnier is that the mother knows she isn’t impressive, at least not to her child, but yodel she must. And yodel she does. “So my children hate it when I yodel,” the Texas mother admits at the beginning of the video. Then immediately she proceeds to yodel, and her child must be around because we get an instant reaction to her sounds. “Ow,” the mother says after being spanked. ‘Why are you, why are you spanking me?” she asks the child who is off-camera. “Because,” the childish voice says simply. “Because why?” the mom retorts. “Because I’m spanking you so hard.” This is what the child humorously says, not even answering the question. “For what?” the mom asks. Get ready for the kicker. The child answers, “For alo-lo-lo-lo.” The little girl’s sound effect is hilarious! The mother has a few more takes on camera of herself yodeling and getting a reaction from her daughter. Unsurprisingly, more spanks are given to which we can all laugh, but then something surprising occurs. After one burst of yodeling the mother inquires about her daughter’s opinion, and the child likes the sound. Say what! “I do like that,” the toddler says in her childish tone. The mother yodels a bit more, and the response is the same. “I do like that.” How sweet! Coupled with the humor of the video, people left witty comments about the yodeling too. “When her kids get into trouble, instead of grounding them, they should have to listen to her yodeling,” one person said. Another commented, “Smart kids, using reverse psychology on their mom...acting like they hate her yodeling so they can hear her singing all the time.” “You know what would be more evil if she had her yodeling as her kid’s alarm sound,” someone suggested. While the child’s reactions are quite funny, the mother is actually quite able to produce a very nice sound. Maybe she is doing something with her talent, maybe not, but the talent is definitely there. We can surely expect more of that to be happening in their home, and hopefully less of the spanking.

This interview shows the thoughts of Carrie Underwood on marriage: ‘We know God brought us together.’ If you haven’t seen much about Carrie Underwood’s relationship with hockey star Mike Fisher, this video gives a nice glimpse into their marriage and faith. It’s episode four from a series called ‘Mike and Carrie: God & Country,’ so there’s more to check out if you’re inspired by their faith. The interview begins with a clip of Mike from 2014 talking about how he found God. He started with, “Cause I reached my dreams, I had money and everything I thought was cool, and it just wasn’t working and I knew the answer.” He felt unfulfilled with his life when he thought he had everything he could ever want. The one thing missing was God. Fast-forward to his life with Carrie and their two boys, he put his life in the hands of God and now happily owns a hunting business. Carrie expressed how opposed she was to hunting and eating meat but said you shouldn’t have every single thing in common in a relationship. “We know God brought us together and trust His judgment. And then, just finding kind of ways to compromise through it.” What a beautiful way to look at your marriage. We are all individuals with our own opinions and ideas. The point of marriage isn’t to find someone like yourself. As Carrie said, that would be “no fun!” God puts people in our lives that help us grow as humans. We should trust his judgment as Mike and Carrie do. Mike followed her by saying, “We’re not perfect. We don’t have a perfect marriage. But we have that one thing in our faith, and that’s why we’re here. To glorify God with what we’ve been given. And hopefully, we point people to the answer.” God has blessed them with a wonderful marriage and family, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have difficult days. All of it is a part of His plan.

Watch the life-changing moment as this piano singer on ‘Romania’s Got Talent’ earns golden buzzer with moving audition. Elena Gatcin auditioned for the 2021 season of ‘Romania’s Got Talent’ with a beautiful song. I don’t know the song and can’t understand the lyrics, but her performance was absolutely breathtaking. Elena began with a short piano introduction, and the audience could already tell she was about to wow the judges. Her voice came in so softly and controlled. I’ve never heard a more impressive start to a singing audition! The depth of emotion she expressed while playing the piano so flawlessly had me in tears in the middle of the video. You can tell how the judges were captivated by her talent because when the camera cuts to their faces, they were staring at her in awe. You can actually hear them expressing how impressed they are. The range of her voice is amazing. It’s as if she was put on this earth to share her talent with the world. If you pay attention to the parts where she sings loudly and then backs off to the point where it sounds like a beautiful whisper, you can tell how advanced she is. The choice to finish the song so softly showed her confidence in herself. She knew she didn’t need some high, loud note to leave the judges with their jaws on the floor. As she received feedback from the judges, Elenaclearly humble. One judge decided to hit the golden buzzer out of nowhere, and Elena seemed completely shocked as if this was never a possibility. The gold confetti fell around her as she stood on the stage with the most confused look on her face. Eventually, the reality of her situation hits her, and she’s able to thank the judges. We are rooting for you, Elena!
