Why should you pray to the saints for their protection, when you have the glorious Son of Man, Jesus Christ, exalted above the heavens as our great high priest, to pray for us? The saints themselves forbid any honors to them, but direct us to Jesus. This homily is based on the Belgic Confession of Faith, a Reformed Confession from the 16th Century that is widely noted for it's doctrinal fidelity and personal warmth.
Peace to everyone, Most of us have experienced special moments that become etched into our minds and hearts. It may be the birth of a child, our first day in school, graduation day, a wedding, or when we said good-bye to a beloved member of our family. Whatever the moment, it is both sacred and precious, that as the years pass, is still fresh in our minds and hearts. In today’s Gospel, we are invited to join the sacred moment when Jesus and His disciples spent their last minutes together just before He would suffer His Passion and Crucifixion. It is a moment when Jesus challenges each of us, along with His disciples, to “Love One Another.” In this message, I share a true story about how one woman, courageously answered that call. May her story encourage all of us to Love without counting the cost. May this Easter Season continue to be nourish our faith as we all make our way toward Pentecost.
