One of the first songs published on The Stones Been Rolled Away CD by Reverend Bill and Friends, this is a cover by A Band of Christians with a heavier rock vibe. The early version was pop and used for congregational worship at CFFC Church in the early 2000 time frame.

This adaptation of Psalm 23 features two archaic terms: “shibboleth” and “twyndyllyngs.” A shibboleth (an old Hebrew term) is a phrase, cry, or slogan that distinguishes one group from another; and twyndyllyngs is an old English term from which we get the word “twins.”

This song was written in 1947 by a man who 3 years before had been saved and rescued from a life of alcoholism. He went on to become a well-known evangelist. It is filled with powerful longing and hope, and has stood the test of time.
