When we go through trials in life, it's easy to take our eyes off God and focus only on the trial itself. Just like the faithful ones that have gone before us, we need to remember that whatever we are going through, it is important to remain faithful to God and continue to love others even when the nails are being driven in (so to speak). God is telling a grand story in each of our lives and sometimes the trials we go through are part of that story. My Grandmother bought me a grand piano about 15 years ago and asked that I write her a song on the piano. By the grace of God working through many different people (including a couple "Grandmas" that gave me inspiration to finish the song), the song "History" was finished. The Lord gave me most of the lyrics for the song (through billboards, sermons, friends, etc..) and without His grace/help, I would have never written this song - so all glory to God! This song helps me remember that each of us is a page in His-story...

This musical version of the Passion of Christ was written and revised from about 1974 through 1976 by John Steffensen, leader of the Ten-Sing choir Sanctus, from Åsane, Bergen, Norway.
It has been on YouTube for a long time but the format was too big to upload here before. The musical was first performed in autumn 1975 for an audience about and later for about 5000 at a KFUM gathering in Skien. Since then it has been performed fairly regularly in different parts of the country by different groups. The English translation, however, has to our knowledge only been performed once: by Leikanger Ten-Sing on a tour to Germany in 1984.

I wrote this song in February of 1995. I just finished adding a sound track to it and video recorded it at Northside Christian Church in North Lakeland Florida.

This video was designed to introduce young Norwegian school pupils to Händel's Messiah in a form they could relate to, as part of the Christmas season of their English classes. I could teach them something valuable, culturally important about England and lots of language all at the same time. On top of that, by the time Christmas drew near, they were all clamouring for something different from their normal lessons. I have done my best to give the exact credits at the end of the video, and most of the music is found elsewhere on YouTube. Hopefully all parties will be duly rewarded through monetisation robots, and if not, I hope to receive their indulgence.

While listening, take out your Bibles and follow along while reading Psalm 23. Someday you will need Psalm 23 guaranteed!

There are times when we are forced to be in the center of God’s sanctuary by depending on His safety while resting in Him, examples are “… He makes me lie down in green pastures … “, or “… Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me …”.

He uses His rod to discipline us and protect us from the enemy and His staff, a curved half loop to bring us back in and guide us!

We go through the valley of death as struggle in life when it appears there’s no way out but for the Lord to deliver!

We also conclude that the flesh cannot be tamed but we are to consider it dead to sin as we consider ourselves crucified with Christ daily, Galatians 2:20!

The flesh or the old Adam likes to boast and exalt itself rather that God!

And then there is that someday when we will all go through the valley of death to remove the stubborn flesh inherited by Adam!

On our death beds, we will need encouragement while getting ready to meet our savior. Psalm 23 is for you!

As you listen to this song, I encourage you to read a psalm a day as medicine to your soul! Don’t let depression, or anxiety creep in! Identity with David in His ups and downs and rest in His conclusion of trusting in the Lord!
