'Lord of the Light' is a reflective song about God's glory. Verse 1 is about God's creation, found in Genesis chapter 1.
'You are sovereign over creation.
You spoke, and darkness turned to light.
You made the still earth and the firmament,
You made sun and moon, split day and night.'
Verse 2 is about how God left his place in glory, and came to the earth in human form
(John chapter 1). Then he gave his life to redeem people from their sins (John 3:16).
I want to behold your glory,
For you reign in Heaven far above.
You came in the form of God’s Son,
Who redeemed mankind through your love.'
Verse 3 is similar to verse 2, again talking about God's glory, and how Christ came to show people the way to God the Father. He will come again in glory (Revelation 19). That will be to set up his kingdom on earth for 1000 years (Revelation 20).
'You reign in heavenly glory.
The angels sing praises in one accord.
You came to the earth to show us the way,
And you’re coming again, glorious Lord.'
Again, the chorus is about God's glory.
'You are Lord of the Light,
You are brighter than the sun.
And you cast out the night,
O Holy One'.
