Where do you find tranquility? Is it a place, like the countryside? Is it with someone, such as a good friend or your spouse? Is it in something, like a song that reminds you of a special moment?
One day, tranquility sought ME out and identified itself with its unmistakable sound. It was an answer to prayer.
It was a time of overwhelm, when both heart and mind were being consumed by life. Unfortunately, we cannot always turn off our thoughts and feelings during difficult times. In my case, I asked the Lord to take over and fill me with something better. Indeed, He gave me what I needed most. He placed a melody in my heart.
The sound of it resonated within me, cradling my mind, and calming my troubled spirit. It seemed only natural to think of a particular word to describe it ... "Tranquility."
I shared this melody with my young daughter. I asked her how it makes her feel. Without a second thought, she smiled and touched me with her words ... "It sounds like Jesus." I was inspired. The wonderful discovery was that Jesus IS tranquility to her, as He can be to any of us that seek refuge in Him.
Anything that would compel my daughter to think of Jesus; it has more worth to me than words can express. For that reason, I orchestrated this little melody for her. It seemed fitting to title it ...
"Jesus, My Tranquility"
