Denzel Washington After God's Reward, Not Man's Awards, Accolades

Denzel Washington seeks God's ultimate reward and is unconcerned about any awards or accolades he may receive. The longtime Hollywood actor made it clear that awards and praise are not what he's after; he is focused on God's ultimate reward: making it to heaven. Watch the short but powerful clip to hear Denzel talk about how he concerns himself with the eternal, and not earthly, temporary things.

No one will live on this Earth forever. This place is nothing more than a pit stop on the way to eternity. Our lives are temporary, and all will pass away and experience death at some point. In the Bible, the book of James describes our lives as a mist or a vapor that is "seen for a little time and then is gone."

Chasing after worldly pleasures such as fame, money or praise are futile and meaningless because of how short life is and how we aren't promised tomorrow. The eternal should occupy much more of our concern and energy, but sadly, many people have their focus twisted and entirely backward. However, Denzel Washington understands what is important and what actually does matter, and it's not Oscars, money or praise from the critics.

In a clip posted on YouTube, Denzel was promoting his latest film when the interviewer remarked about his winning multiple Oscars. The "Training Day" star then states that the Oscars or any other award mean nothing to him.

"I don't do it for Oscars, I really don't care about that kind of stuff, you know?" Denzel said. "I've been at this a long time, and there's time when I won, shouldn't have won, and shouldn't have won and won, didn't win, and should have won. Man gives the award. God gives the reward. I'm not that interested in Oscars."

Later in the interview, he mentioned how empty and meaningless his acting accolades are to him.

"On my last day, it ain't going to do me a bit of good," he said.

"As long as He says, 'Now, boy, get on up here,' I'm all right," he added.

John 12:43 "For the praise of men was dearer to them than the approval of God."

What If You Were Made for This Exact Moment? | Your Nightly Prayer

The story of Esther in the Bible is often summarized in one memorable line: “for such a time as this.” But Michelle Treacy helps us look deeper. Esther wasn’t just given a moment—she was given a choice. A choice to step into God’s plan… or step aside. Tonight’s prayer and reflection challenges us to do the same: What if God placed you here in this exact moment to partner with Him in bringing justice, healing, or hope? What if the weight you carry is actually the nudge of a holy calling, awakening your heart to something bigger than yourself? What if your ordinary day carries eternal purpose? God may not need us to act—but He wants us to. He desires to partner with His people to bring His kingdom to earth in small, bold, and beautiful ways. Let this reminder stir your soul before sleep: You’re here for a reason. And God may be whispering your name for something greater. Esther 4:14 (NIV) “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” 🔗 Read Esther 4:14 at BibleStudyTools.com

In the middle of life’s darkest moments, God can still give you a song at midnight—a reason to praise when there’s no earthly reason to sing. You are not alone in your midnight hour.

A Nightly Surrender of Your Timeline to God | Your Nightly Prayer

Do you ever catch yourself clinging tightly to a timeline you created years ago? In this evening's prayer and devotional, Amber Ginter reflects on the plan she made at sixteen—a detailed, color-coded blueprint of her future that included a veterinary career, early marriage, and a picture-perfect life. But God had a different story in mind. Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us that there is a season for everything under heaven. It’s not our job to control the outcome—it's our job to surrender and trust the One who already sees the end from the beginning. When life unfolds differently than expected, it isn’t failure—it’s faith in motion. Amber’s story echoes what many of us have experienced: plans that fall apart, dreams that shift, and paths we never saw coming. But even in the detours, God's timing is perfect. And His plans? They're always better than our own. Tonight’s Scripture: Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NIV) “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” 🔗 Read Ecclesiastes 3:1 at BibleStudyTools.com 🙏 Your Nightly Prayer Dear Jesus, You know how much I wrestle to surrender my plans and dreams to You. When I struggle to let go, remind me that Your way is always better. Show me how to release my grip and open my hands to whatever You have in store for me. Help me trust that You are in control, and I don’t need to be. I trust, love, and praise You, Lord. Amen. 🧘 Three Things to Meditate Upon Study the Word "Surrender" Use a Bible commentary to dive into what surrender really means. Then journal your conversation with God. A Prayer for Peace in Your Home Today | Your Daily Prayer

True peace in our homes begins with the choice of whom we serve and what we believe. As Christine F. Perry reflects in today's prayer, our beliefs shape our behavior—whether that’s striving to earn love, chasing wealth, or living for earthly rewards. When we choose our own way over God’s, chaos, fear, and anxiety often follow. But when we surrender authority and headship to the Lord, we invite His peace to reign in our hearts and our homes. Drawing from Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis, Christine reminds us that God designed us to “run on Himself” — there is no true happiness or peace apart from Him. Today, we are called to make the intentional choice to serve the Lord, letting His presence shape our relationships, attitudes, and daily life. Today's Bible Verse: 📖 Joshua 24:15 – “But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” 🕊 Key Takeaways What you believe determines how you behave. Serving God brings peace—serving self brings chaos. We were made to run on God alone—peace is impossible without Him. Daily surrender is essential for God’s peace to fill our homes. 🙏 Prayer “Lord, please rule and reign in our hearts and homes today. Help us to spend time with You so we can love as You love, serve as You serve, and live as You lived. We know apart from You we can do nothing, but with You, we can do all things.”

A Prayer That Your Words Will Be a Tree of Life | Your Daily Prayer

In A Prayer That Your Words Will Be a Tree of Life, we seek God’s help in speaking words that heal, encourage, and build up—words that reflect His heart and bring life to those around us. Inspired by Proverbs 15:4, this prayer will guide you in using your speech as a powerful tool for blessing rather than harm. 📖 Bible Verse: "The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit." – Proverbs 15:4 (NIV) Whether in conversations with family, friends, coworkers, or strangers, our words have eternal impact. This prayer will help you pause before you speak, seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance, and choose language that honors Christ. Perfect for starting your day, preparing for important conversations, or reflecting on how to better love others with your speech. 🙏 Prayer: Lord, Help me to use my words as You would have me use them—bringing healing, encouragement, and truth. Guard my tongue from speaking in haste, anger, or selfishness. Instead, fill my mouth with words that reflect Your love, grace, and wisdom. May what I say plant seeds of hope and faith, becoming a tree of life for those who hear. Remind me that every conversation is an opportunity to glorify You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Sweet Young Man Brings Neighbor’s Pup Home After It Gets Loose

A sweet young man brought a neighbor’s pup home after the animal got loose. The little guy did what he could to help his neighbor out by corralling and returning their dog after it had gotten out. Watch the short but heartwarming video of the toddler bringing back the dog to its home after it had gotten loose.

Animals are wonderful, fantastic creatures, and that is something that everyone can agree upon, right? Whatever your preference – dogs, cats, rabbits or, for some reason, snakes – animals make for some of the best friends you’ll ever hope to have in this life. They are loyal, love unconditionally and are always happy to see you, and it doesn’t matter if you’ve been gone five minutes or five months; their reaction is the same.

As great as animals are, they can also, at times, be a significant source of stress and anxiety. For instance, if that dog or cat were to get outside, particularly when they are primarily an indoor animal, your stress level will increase considerably. That new, unfamiliar environment, with all its new, unexplored sights, sounds and smells, will likely make corralling that escaped animal tough to nearly impossible. That’s why having helpful, caring neighbors in those situations is especially nice.

In a clip posted on YouTube, a young man, a toddler, is captured leading a dog up onto a porch. The little guy has corralled his neighbor’s pup after the animal had gotten loose. He was being a kind and caring neighbor, helping in what would have been a very stressful, anxiety-ridden situation.

The video continues with the little boy opening the front door and letting the dog back into the house, where it belongs. A woman off camera can be heard yelling her appreciation for the sweet toddler’s efforts.

“Thank you, Leo!” the woman says.

“Welcome,” the toddler responds as he leaves the porch.

Romans 12:18 “As far as it is possible for you, be at peace with all men.”

Officers Team Up to Rescue Coyote Caught in Tree

Two officers teamed up to help rescue a coyote that had gotten caught in a tree. The kind and caring law enforcement officers worked together to free the animal from its odd and likely painful position. Watch the short but sweet clip to see how the officers were able to work together to free the wild animal from the tree.

Animals, like human beings, are part of God’s creation. They were placed on Earth by Him and are important in His eyes. They have to be, why else would He have put them here? So, because of their importance to God and their inherent value to the Creator of the universe, animals should be treated with kindness, gentleness and respect.

Of course, that means humans should look out for and care for those cute, furry, four-legged creatures. As every pet owner knows, animals can get into some odd, inexplicable predicaments. Who hasn’t come home from a long day at work only to find their dog or cat in a spot or having made a mess they had no business being in or creating? Despite their unfortunate behavior, we still show them kindness and gentleness because of how much they mean to us.

In a clip posted on YouTube, two police officers helped an animal that had somehow become stuck in a tree. The coyote’s right front paw is securely stuck in the tree, which has started to split down the middle. Perhaps the coyote was trying to climb the tree when it slid down the tree and then got stuck? I’m not sure how that would have happened.

Regardless of how the coyote got into its present position, the animal obviously knew it was in trouble and badly needed help. It did not try to bite or scratch the officers working to free it. Eventually, after much effort, the officers free the wild animal.

Genesis 1:21 “And God created great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.”

Woman’s Emotional Reaction to Stunning View in Colorado

One woman had an emotional reaction to a stunning view in Colorado. She was enjoying a hike in the western state when she came across a sight that caused her to choke up and become emotional. Watch the short but jaw-dropping clip to see the view that caused her to react in such a way.

Technology has made our lives better and easier in various ways. Those advancements have improved communication, entertainment, medical care and even how we cook our food. Technology has also revolutionized how people work. People can now work remotely from anywhere in the country or the world.

However, like most things in life, there are also some negatives and a handful of downsides to those technological advancements. Arguably, the biggest and most noticeable one is that people have become addicted to their phones, tablets and nearly anything with a screen. Putting the phone down and leaving it alone for just an hour can and often does require a lot of willpower. Sadly, that can seem like a significant accomplishment.

Since we are so glued to our phones, with our heads down scrolling through Instagram or typing out a text message, we can miss the beauty right in front of our eyes. A clip posted on social media captures how one woman reacted when she encountered an absolutely stunning view while hiking in Colorado.

“Wow! Gosh dang it. Dude, dude! Oh, man! Oh, man!” the woman says, amazed as her eyes start to well up with tears.

She then flips her phone around and shows everyone the view that has gotten her so emotional and overwhelmed. It is gorgeous, simply a breathtaking sight of snow-capped mountains.

The Lord is an artist. He has filled the Earth with some truly remarkable works of art. Sadly, if we are constantly looking down at our phones, we’ll never bring our heads up long enough to appreciate all He has created for our enjoyment.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 “He has made everything beautiful in his time: also, he has set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God makes from the beginning to the end.”

Woman’s Powerful Act of Forgiveness Will Leave You Amazed and In Tears

One woman’s powerful act of forgiveness will leave you amazed and in tears. She did what many people, if in her position, could not do, and it was so powerful and moving. Watch the short but tear-jerking video to see and hear about this woman’s act of forgiveness.

Life is not always a fair or even, very often, an easy experience. What other people do can significantly impact our lives. Sadly, when they make wrong decisions and choices, it’s usually not only them who feel those negative repercussions, but us as well. The results of those choices can be devastating and life-altering.

When someone has had too much to drink, but foolishly still decides to get behind the wheel, they are not only putting their life in danger but also everyone else they might encounter during their drunken escapade. This scenario is all too real for far too many people, and one that, for whatever reason, continues to happen. A clip posted on YouTube tells the story of one woman whose life was dramatically impacted by someone who decided to get behind the wheel when they were intoxicated. But what the woman did and the love she exhibited will absolutely amaze you.

Joseph Tillman, while under the influence of nitrous oxide, hit and killed Chuck Johnson, who was on an electric bike at the time of the deadly collision. Joseph would go on to plead guilty to all of the charges against him, but while being sentenced for the fatal crash, something amazing happened.

Regina Johnson hugged and forgave the young man responsible for her husband’s death. The clip states that Regina embraced him because the Lord told her “he needed a mom hug.”

It was during their embrace that Regina told the young man she forgave him for the crash that claimed her husband’s life and added that the Lord “loves him more than he knows.”

Wow! What a powerful and moving demonstration of God’s love, mercy and grace to be able to hug and forgive someone whose actions ended her spouse’s life, forever changing hers.

Matthew 18:21-22 “Then Peter came and said to him, ‘Lord, what number of times may my brother do wrong against me, and I give him forgiveness? Till seven times?’ Jesus says to him, ‘I say not you, till seven times; but, till seventy-seven times.’”

Help Me Rest, Not Scroll | A Prayer for Digital Peace and True Rest

Lord, You know how often I turn to my phone before I turn to You. Help me resist the pull of endless scrolling that leaves me empty. Teach me to choose rest over distraction, stillness over stimulation, and Your Word over the world’s noise. Fill the quiet moments with Your peace, refresh my mind, and renew my spirit. May my heart find joy in Your presence, and may my time reflect my love for You more than my love for the screen. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Anchor’s Emotional Reaction to Meteorologist’s Breaking News

An anchor had an emotional reaction to a meteorologist’s unexpected breaking news story. The woman cried tears of joy when she learned of her coworker’s fantastic news. Watch the short but sweet clip to see how the woman reacted to a breaking news story that completely surprised her.

The world is a lost and broken place, full of hurting and struggling people calling out for help and any sign of hope. The evidence for this brokenness is literally all around us—everywhere you look and go. Sin has done a number on this world, ruining and destroying everything it has ever touched.

While the brokenness is everywhere we look and go, arguably, it’s most easily seen on any and every television news broadcast. The top stories are always about a horrendous, violent crime or the latest scandal from a politician who has been placed in a position of trust. Oh, and also the weather. Crime, updates about corrupt politicians and the weather - that’s about everything the news is good for and can be counted on to provide.

A clip posted on YouTube shows how one television station used its time on air to broadcast some good news for a change. The meteorologist was giving her forecast, which looked uncomfortably warm for the foreseeable future. Her time on camera wasn’t over when she finished talking about the weather. She had one more forecast to give and prediction to make, about someone who would be arriving in several months.

About a minute into the clip, the meteorologist walks over to the anchor desk and announces she has a breaking news story. It’s not one about a murder or a lying, corrupt politician (Are there any other kind?). Instead, she says that she is going to be a mother!

The anchor is shocked and immediately becomes emotional, breaking down in tears at the excellent news. What a sweet moment and a terrific change of pace from what we typically get from the local news.

Psalm 127:3 “See, children are a heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of his womb is his reward.”

Woman Saved by Brave, Quick-Thinking Men During Dangerous Situation

Brave, quick-thinking men jumped in and saved a woman during a dangerous and scary situation. The two gentlemen stepped up in a big way and protected a woman during a frightening ordeal. Watch the short but awe-inspiring clip to hear about the terrifying circumstance that caused two men to act decisively and heroically.

Life is, for the most part, an unexpected experience, full of situations and circumstances, many of which we could have never foreseen coming—some good and others not so good. There will be joy, but sadly, there will also be tears as we go through life. Also, we often have no control over what happens to us, but we must learn how to improvise and roll with those unexpected situations.

Everyone wants to believe they know what to do and how to act in an emergency. We’d all like to think we’d act without hesitation, maneuvering in a way that keeps others from harm. But the only way to ever be sure is to be thrust into such a situation. A clip posted on YouTube shows that two men found themselves in a frightening ordeal, and they rose to the occasion.

In the video, a laundromat employee is threatened by a man waving a bat, who is also clearly shouting at her. One man, a customer nearby, notices what is happening and how he’s threatening the woman and jumps into action. He bear hugs, wrapping his arms around the would-be assailant, and wrestles him to the ground with the help of another man who runs onto the scene to offer his assistance. Those two heroes kept that woman and everyone else in the laundromat safe until police arrived on the scene, nearly 10 minutes later.

One of the two men said he had no intention of being a hero, but the situation called for someone to step up and act and he answered the call.

“I didn’t come in here to be a hero, I came in here to wash clothes,” he said. “But I think you need to interact where you see a need, and it’s everybody’s job to do that in the community.”

Those are powerful words that we could all apply to our lives and many different situations.
