Little Known Story Of The Boats That Saved Thousands Of Lives On 9/11

There were many heroes on September 11, 2001 and some of those heroes came from the most unlikely place. On that fateful day, over roughly half a million people were rescued by boat, in the largest maritime rescue in US history. The entire world wept after the tragic events of September 11th. Nearly 3,000 people lost their lives that day, but each year we continue to honor their lives and pay tribute to their memories. At we look back at this bleak part of history, it’s important to look at those who rose up and helped their fellow brothers and sisters. After the towers collapsed, bridges and tunnels were closed throughout the city. The short film, Boatlift, tells us that “for the first time in over one hundred years, boats were the only way on or off the island of Manhattan.” That’s when the United States Coast Guard put out a request for aid. Narrated by actor Tom Hanks, Boatlift, tells the inspiring story of these selfless boat owners and captains who risked their lives to help others. Captain Vincent Ardolino was watching the events unfold on TV when he decided to leave his house and go into the unknown. “Even if I save one person or I rescue one person, that’s one person less that will suffer and die.” Over 150 vessels answered the call and helped transport passengers or supplies. Half a million stranded people were rescued and given the necessary aid and care because of these brave men and women. Their story may not be well known, but it definitely should be. Let us share and lift up these incredible Good Samaritans who risked it all for their neighbors. Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

God Talks To 90-Year-Old Buddy And Calms Him During Tennessee Floods

Buddy McNabb knows God will walk and talk with him when floods rise. Not just in a scriptural sense but also in a literal sense. His miracle story is going viral after God talks to the 90-year-old and calms him down during Tennessee floods. “I’m a believer. God laid his hand on me.” He added, “There isn’t a question in my mind. If a person does not believe in miracles, come talk to me. Because God laid his hands on me. I was not even afraid.” He stood watching the water rise as he sipped his coffee and pet one of his three dogs. He realized as the water rose, there was no way to get out. He couldn’t get to his truck or leave his home. So, instead of panicking, he talked to God and God talked back. Even though 21 other people were killed during the flooding, Buddy’s life was spared. All because he decided to have a little conversation with God. His story proves God answers prayer in his perfect time just when we need God to. As Buddy talked to God, God reassured Buddy that He would be with him through the flooding. God promised that when he passed through rivers, the rivers would not sweep over him. Yet, as the waters continued to rise, up to the point of his chest, Buddy prayed one last time when he said, “Well, I guess this is it, it’s time for me to go,” but right in that instant, the floodwaters began to recede. All because Buddy prayed. God indeed had his hands on this dear old man and now he is a walking, talking, living miracle! When his story began to go viral, hundreds of comments rolled in. One viewered stated, “I love the fact his main message was letting people know “if you don’t believe in miracles, come talk to me” such powerful words. Very appropriate during these uncertain times for many to share his message of faith to be a TRUE believer. May God continue to protect and bless this beautiful lovely gentleman always!” Another viewer agreed and stated, “He and his dogs surely received God's blessings. May he continue to be blessed.” Amen! May Buddy continue to be blessed and used by God in powerful ways that teach believers and unbelievers in the power of prayer! “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze,” Isaiah 43:2

Cockatoo Has Hilarious Reaction To Stuffed Animal Lookalike

Birds are so interesting to watch. In this video, a Cockatoo has a hilarious reaction to a stuffed animal lookalike. At the start of this video a stuffed cockatoo sits on the window of a skyscraper office. The real bird has flown over to the fake bird behind the window. As he is intrigued, the employee zooms in the camera to catch a closer look. You hear the interested bird tweeting. Then, all of a sudden, the fake bird doll moves and makes a noise. The real bird jumps back in fear, then it happens again and the cockatoo flies away immediately. This was a face off unlike any other. The real bird was curious, but then was scared by nothing more than a stuffed animal. How many times does this happen to us too? The enemy tries to scare us off with his tactics, when our God is the real deal. We live in the moment and become curious about what the world has to offer, but become duped by nothing more than a “stuffed animal.” Our Lord loves us and wants the best for us. When we find ourselves chasing after the things of this world which will never satisfy us, may we reign in our emotions and refocus our hearts on Jesus. He is the only One who can ever truly satisfy us. He will never lie or deceive us. We can trust in Him. “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever." 1 John 2:15-17

Quick-Thinking Teens Save Friend From Choking In The Cafeteria

This video of one quick-thinking teen saving his friend from choking in the school cafeteria is proof that teens really do listen and absorb what is taught to them… at least occasionally. The story opens with three high school boys sitting together having lunch. A caption explains that one is having a hard time breathing. That student is freshman Jackson Johnson, who shares that he had just gotten seated and was eating his chicken sandwich when he hiccuped and food became lodged in his throat. Hunter Olsen is seated directly across from Jackson. Hunter reports that he and other friends laughed at first, thinking Jackson was being goofy and it was merely a case of something going down the wrong pipe. Soon, though, it becomes clear that Jackson is really choking. He tries to cough the stuck food into the trash can, and, with a gesture to his throat, communicates to Hunter that he’s not playing. Recognizing that he’s got to “do something,” Hunter begins to administer the Heimlich Maneuver. He positions his hands and delivers several jerks to Jackson’s chest. Eventually, he frees the culinary culprit, and Jackson can breathe again. Jackson is visibly relieved, but Hunter seems to take it all in stride. He raises his arms and gives a healthy shout-out to health teacher, Ms. Howa. Ms. Kathy Howa teaches the Heimlich Maneuver, along with CPR, during her health class. While Hunter admits not realizing at the time he’d need to pay much attention, and he credits Ms. Howa’s great teaching with the fact that he had gained enough skill and knowledge to take action when needed. Ms. Howa explains that she had a hard time believing her ears upon hearing what happened. Maybe that is because she knew Hunter was admittedly not always tuned in. But more than likely, she was just delighted to hear how her student had the wherewithal to put what he’d learned into practice. Ms. Howa is indeed one proud teacher! Hunter summed it up by saying, “Well, I just thought that doing somethin’ was better than doing nothing.” Wise words, Hunter! Good for you! 12-Year-Old Earns Last Second Chair Turn With Etta James Hit

Check out this great audition on The Voice Kids Germany where a 12-year-old girl turns the judges’ chairs at the last minute with her rendition of the hit song ‘Something’s Got A Hold On Me’ by Etta James. “Something's got a hold on me, yeah (Oh, it must be love) Oh, something's got a hold on me right now, child (Oh, it must be love) Let me tell you now, I got a feeling, I feel so strange, everything about me Seems to have changed, step by step, I got a brand new walk, I even sound sweeter when I talk I said, oh (oh), oh (oh), oh (oh), oh (oh), hey, hey, yeah, oh, it must be love” The 12-year-old girl singing in the video is named Julie, and she has such a great stage presence! Her voice has so much soul and personality, and her performance of ‘Something’s Got A Hold On Me’ was wonderful! During her blind audition on The Voice Kids Germany, her family is cheering her on from backstage. They know she is going to do a great job and are clearly excited for her! While Julie is singing the Etta James hit, the judges and audience members are dancing in their seats. Everyone is having a great time! What a fun performance! Right as Julie is finishing up singing ‘Something’s Got A Hold On Me,’ two of the judges press their button and turn their chairs around at just the last second. Julie is so excited to see their reaction that she starts jumping up and down on stage. She is absolutely giddy with happiness! What a memorable moment in this young girl’s life. Choir Of Nurses Sing Powerful Rendition Of 'You Will Be Found'

Check out this choir of nurses sing a powerful rendition of the song ‘You Will Be Found’ on America’s Got Talent. “Well, let that lonely feeling wash away, maybe there's a reason to believe you'll be okay 'Cause when you don't feel strong enough to stand you can reach, reach out your hand And oh, someone will coming running, and I know, they'll take you home Even when the dark comes crashing through, when you need a friend to carry you And when you're broken on the ground, you will be found” What an amazing performance! The nurses are all so talented, they sing such lovely harmonies in this song. You can really feel their hearts and sincerity when they sing out the lyrics and share the message of the song. “They are definitely making it to the finals at least,” writes one person online after watching the video on YouTube. “This is so beautiful, uplifting, and inspiring.” “I cried. God bless nurses,” comments another person online. “This song touched my heart.” The Northwell Health Nurse Choir are the ones behind this inspiring performance of "You Will Be Found" from the Broadway show Dear Evan Hansen. They are also the group that received Howie Mandel’s golden buzzer during this season of America’s Got Talent. This talented choir began in 2020 when they gathered virtually to support Nurse Heroes—a nonprofit initiative to help solve the global nurse shortage by raising awareness and providing much needed funds for nursing scholarships. And what’s even more remarkable is that these singing nurses did not know each other before joining their voices to support Nurse Heroes. They all came from different hospitals and areas of New York. It was the power of music that helped form a special bond between them and lift their spirits. 10-Year-Old Opera Singer Victory Brinker Returns To AGT With 'Casta Diva'

Prepare to be blown away by this talented opera singer on America’s Got Talent who sings ‘Casta Diva.’ Her name is Victory Brinker, and she is only 10 years old. But she has such a strong and powerful voice! Victory actually made history on America’s Got Talent by receiving a golden buzzer from all four of the judges. And it’s no wonder that they judges were enamored with her, because she has such a beautiful and angelic voice! This adorable and talented singer is one to watch in this competition, and she could easily be the winner of this season of AGT. That would make her the youngest winner in the show’s history! Victory has been singing since the age of two, but it was around the age of six when she shifted her attention to opera. Victory had previously performed on the show Little Big Shots and even brought Melissa McCarthy to tears! “I'm a huge fan of opera and this makes me cry from its beauty,” comments one person on YouTube after watching the video. “Other kids have sung opera on AGT, but your voice has a velvety undertone. Almost like a jazz singer reincarnated and decides to do opera this time around. I hope the opera houses around this country are watching this. You belong on stage.” “It is unbelievable that such a powerful voice like that can come out of such a small girl! She sounds amazing!” writes another person online. Victory Brinker was born in the Midwest, and she was adopted as a baby by her parents, Christine and Eric Brinker. She is one of 11 siblings, and 9 of them are adopted. Restaurant Surprises Blind Woman With Braille Cake On Her Birthday

This video can help brighten any day. A restaurant surprises a blind woman with Braille cake on her birthday. As the waiter carries a special delivery to the table of a woman, this sweet birthday girl is in for a surprise. ​​Natalie Te Paa is a blind singer/songwriter from England. Her producer Claire spoke with the restaurant, Luciano by Gino D'Campo, and arranged for Natalie to have a braille birthday wish written in chocolate on a plate. The waitress asks Natalie to give her hand and places it on the chocolate. Natalie begins to gasp and responds in excitement, “They did not!” Claire says, “You guys are amazing.” Natalie says, “Wow that is wild!” She continues, “You officially win, for the best restaurant dessert ever.” Claire introduces Natalie to Validia who came up with the idea to encourage Natalie on her special day. The extra effort of kindness shown by this restaurant and Claire reminds us to be on the lookout for others. Many times there are people with disabilities who do not get to experience the world in the same ways. This clip reminds us of the message to love well and go the extra mile to bless them. Natalie may be blind, but God can use each and every one of us to glorify Him. Jesus reminds us that being blind is not due to sin or punishment, but so that the Lord may be magnified. “As he passed by, he saw a man blind from birth. And his disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him." John 9:1-3

The Voice Finalist Turns From Rockstar Life To Use His Platform For God

Voice Finalist Curtis Grimes turned from his rockstar life to use his platform for God after hearing a song that made all the difference in his world. God’s plans definitely have a way of surprising us, and Curtis Grimes is no exception! Here we see Curtis singing and strumming his guitar on the bleachers of a baseball field, and we’re told the story of Curtis’s early passions. A Texas native, Curtis was born in 1985. He accepted Christ at the age of eight, and Curtis says that he told his father, “Hey, when I’m big, I wanna play major league baseball, and I wanna, I wanna use that platform to tell people about Jesus.” Could there be any better plan than that for a young man! When Curtis became involved in high school sports, he also began partying, drinking, and having sex. He strayed far from his connection to Christ, but he excelled as a pitcher and earned a scholarship to Centenary College in Louisiana. While there, Curtis became engaged and left baseball for that relationship. However, when the romance ended, Curtis found himself alone and no longer eligible to play the sport he’d worked so hard at. It was then that Curtis tried his hand at music. He bought a used guitar and taught himself how to play. Still partying and living a life contrary to his Christian values, Curtis wrote songs and played with his band. As with baseball, he found success. A radio contest provided him the opportunity to open for Kenny Chesney in 2008, and, in 2011, he appeared on The Voice! Promoters, bookings, touring, and single releases came. And, they all pointed to commercial success for Curtis. He explains that he was riding that wave while also continuing to live a lifestyle of partying. He was singing songs that were not Godly and using his platform in the opposite way as what he’d planned as a little kid. In the Fall of 2015, Curtis heard the song “Through It All” by Andrae Crouch. Life changed. Curtis explains that hearing that song forced him to stop and examine how he’d been living. He prayed and asked God for forgiveness, and he considered leaving the music industry altogether. Instead, though, he recognized that he needed to stay and move forward with using the platform he’d gained to demonstrate the changes in his life—to bring a message of hope and salvation to his audience. Unfortunately, the music industry professionals were not on board with his plan, and they disappeared. Curtis didn’t see this as the end, though. He recognized it as the perfect path for him to do the positive music he now wanted to share. In doing so, Curtis gained success once again. He has been named “Top Country Christian Artist” at the Texas Country Music Awards, and he’s had several number-one singles. Now married and with a family, Curtis is also the founder of Ten Finger Ministry. TFM’s mission is to distribute Bibles all over the world. Curtis recorded “Through It All” himself. His rendition is quite different from Andrae Crouch’s, but both are beautiful. The song reminded Curtis of his faith roots and brought him back to them. Who knows how his version might impact someone else! “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

Twin Sisters Perform Mesmerizing Rhythmic Gymnastics Routine

Watch and be wowed as these twin sisters perform mesmerizing rhythmic gymnastic routines for the individual all-around qualifying session in Tokyo! Arina and Dina Averina, representing the Russian Olympic Committee, are identical twins competing against each other here, but reportedly best friends and each other’s biggest supporters. If one beautiful and amazingly-gifted athlete isn’t enough for a family, their parents have two! Arina appears first on the mat as off-camera broadcasters comment on current scores and standings. She’s wearing a bold leotard of red, yellow, and black. After a few steps around the floor, Arina positions her ribbon-and-stick apparatus just so. It rests against the side of her face, and, with her hip thrust forward, she readies for that first note. Arina has chosen a classical instrumental piece. And, it is beyond bewildering to watch her perform. This sport requires skills in more than just one area. It incorporates both dance and gymnastics, and it also combines moves like those done by flag corps or drill teams during marching band performances at Friday football games. Only, at this level, everything is obviously on a super grand scale! Arina’s ribbon seems like an extension of her body. It turns out that the ribbons can’t merely float through the air in a random lovely way; they aren’t there just for color. They have to be in constant motion! Arina and Dina must incorporate certain moves into their routines. They have names like: “flicks” and “circles” and “snakes” and “spirals.” It looks like Arina didn’t miss one! Arina concludes her routine and takes her seat alongside her coach while waiting for the scores. Arina and her coach form a heart with their hands for family and fans, and next up is Dina. Dina’s leotard is white with bits of blue in it, but she uses a red ribbon on a yellow stick just as Arina did. Her hair is likewise styled in a tight bun. However, her music is a more romantic tune with lyrics. She is just as stunning and talented as her sister, and, in the end, her score puts her slightly above Arina. Regardless of scores and winners, those watching the girls and witnessing the beauty and grace that both exhibit in those few minutes—that’s where the real joy is! And, here’s what else? Arina and Dina have another sister. Polina is their older sibling and the one who got them excited about gymnastics! “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Philippians 4:8

12 Young Disco Dancers Take Us Back In Time With Groovin' BGT Audition

This video is one of the most adorable videos I have seen in a while. 12 young disco dancers take us back in time with groovin’ BGT audition. The adorable group of girls with pigtail buns and one boy in popping pink outfits stand confidently on the stage as the judge asks what is their name, the little performers respond, “Groove Thangs.” The crowd loves them. The judge asks the one boy what it is like for him to be the only boy among all the girls and he shares, “I really like it.” The crowd laughs. The judge asks, “Is there any romance going on?” the taller girl next declares, “He’s taken.” Everyone laughs and smiles at this. The judge asks, “Do you want to win?” They all shout out in unison, “Yes!” As these children begin to dance in their colorful outfits, everyone is in awe of their high level of skills. The choreography is incredible and the facials of each child are perfection. The little boy in particular shines. This video is nothing short of entertaining. The audience goes wild over the dance. The judges rave over the performance and they receive 4 yeses. The group is so thrilled. What I love about this performance is that it reminds us to give our all. Each dancer gave 100% to this audition. In the same way God deserves 100% from us. Each day we have the opportunity to glorify HIm with our lives. Like these kids did their best, we can also strive through the power of the Holy Spirit to give our best for the Lord. “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31

Country Singer Dustin Lynch Brings 17-Year-Old On Stage For Surprising Duet

It’s not every day when a young woman’s dreams come true. However, in this video, country singer Dustin Lynch brings a 17-year-old on stage for a surprising duet. In this clip, Dustin invites a fan up to the stage to sing with her during one of his songs, “Thinkin’ About You.” He happens to choose Hailey James who is a young woman who loves to sing. The girl appears nervous at first and in complete awe that she is standing on stage at the concert of one of her favorite singers. As they begin the duet, Dustin sings first and then grabs Hailey by the hand and takes her to one side of the stage. Then, it is Hailey’s turn at the mic. She begins singing and Dustin is in shock at the level of talent this girl has that is revealed. Dustin continues to lead Hailey across the stage and walk while the two of them sing the melody together. At one point Hailey is so tickled by the whole experience that she stops and giggles because this is actually happening to her. It is completely adorable. Dustin points towards Hailey as the fans go wild at the end of the song. He gives her a hug and says, “Make some noise for Hailey” She grabs her chest and exhales. She says, “I’m shaking.” Dustin replies, “I’m shaking too, I’m nervous.” He thanks her and the crowd cheers. This video reminds me of how God is so much greater than any celebrity. Just as Hailey felt amazed that Dustin would choose her to come on his stage, we can be even more in awe that the Lord of all would choose us as His children. “For you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy." 1 Peter 2:10

FedEx Driver Goes Above And Beyond For Young Boy With Autism

If you need to see just how great humans can be, look no further than this story. It will put a smile on your face and a pep in your step because this FedEx driver goes above and beyond for a young boy with Autism. Ryan Avila is a seven-year-old boy on the spectrum and his favorite thing? Trucks. All kinds of trucks. If it has wheels, he is all over it. He loves buses, bank trucks, dump trucks, semi-trucks, and especially delivery trucks! On Easter morning, his mom got him a very special truck—a FedEx truck and Ryan was just over the moon. Later that morning, their delivery driver George Thomas pulled into the driveaway. He had another package to deliver, and he had no idea he was about to make Ryan’s day. While Ryan was enamored with his new truck, his grandmother announced the FedEx truck was outside and Ryan was so excited he rushed outdoors while he was still in his pajamas. When Ryan’s mom explained that he loves trucks and he had just gotten a FedEx truck for Easter, George didn’t hesitate to bring Ryan more joy. George encouraged Ryan to go inside the truck and explore! During the visit, George learned just how special of a kid Ryan is as his mom explained that he was on the Autism Spectrum. But what touched George’s heart is how Ryan looked up to him like he was a superhero. After all, George got to drive a truck and not just any truck—he got to drive a FedEx truck. The next day George returned with a surprise. He brought Ryan more gifts from the FedEx company—a soccer ball, a shirt, and even a hat! The look on Ryan’s face was priceless. It was a look of pure joy, happiness, and admiration! Can we all just take a moment to thank God for George’s heart that is so full of grace, kindness, and love? He is so much more than a delivery driver—he delivers compassion and grace! “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,” Galatians 5:22
